In a thrilling display of inter-professional sportsmanship, members of the 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly have accepted a challenge to play a novelty football match against the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council.
The match, scheduled for October 11, 2024, at 4 pm at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, is part of the NUJ’s 2024 Press Week celebrations.
According to reports, the NUJ had extended an invitation to the lawmakers through a letter, which was accepted by the Deputy Clerk of the House, Miss Oluwaseun Oba, in a letter dated September 20.
NUJ Chairman, Kayode Babatuyi, expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating, “We are battle-ready to display our skills and beat the lawmakers mercilessly.”
Babatuyi urged the public to attend the match in large numbers to support the journalists.
The novelty match promises to be an exciting encounter between the two teams, sparking anticipation among locals.
