Make youths love God, shun idolatry – Bishop Ezeofor urges priests, parents

Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Ezeofor has cautioned Christian faithful against playing eye service, particularly in their relationship with God.

The Prelate gave the advice during the 19th Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference held at Saint Mary’s Church, Ogbunka, in Orumba South local government area of the state.

The conference was organized by Women’s Ministry of Aguata Diocese of the Anglican Communion to seek God’s intervention in the series of challenges facing the country.

Ezeofor also charged parents and ministers of God to always make youths love God instead of going back to idolatry.

Describing love as the crowning point of God’s creation, the Bishop who doubles as the national chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC Nigeria) stressed that Christians were compelled and constrained by the love of God.

He argued that no mortal could separate Christians from the love of God.

“With love, Jesus Christ was crucified naked on the cross of Calvary for the salvation of mankind, including enemies of God,” he added.

Conference president, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, described the teachings of the conference as rewarding and disclosed that society would be a better place if delegates domesticated the knowledge garnered in their various families, communities, churches, and workplaces.

Earlier while leading in prayers, Mrs. Success Iwuagwu, regretted the hardship Nigerians are passing through, especially hunger, insecurity, banditry, unemployment among youths, and high cost of electricity tariff, among others.

While noting that it was only through prayer that God could intervene, Iwuagwu asked God to help direct leaders aright in making policies that would improve the living standards of the people.

In various interviews, conference delegates, including Lady Gloria Ezezika, president of the Ladies Auxiliary in Aguata Diocese, Lady Ngozi Ikeh, chairperson of the Conference Central Planning Committee, and host Archdeacon Venerable Ferguson Ezeokafor, described the theme of the conference as a reawakening call and commended the people of Ogbunka for their efforts in making the conference a huge success.

Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, the wife of a former Vice President, Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwueme, the wife of the Chancellor of Aguata Diocese, Barrister Ndidi Obiora, Assistant Legal Secretary in Aguata Diocese, Mrs. Chinelo Okoye, and Director of Media and Communications in Aguata Diocese, Mr. Abuchi Nwozor, attended the event.

Cutting of the conference cake, special songs by the Aguata Diocesan Women’s choral group, and an anthem by the choir added glamour to the event, which had its theme as “God’s Great Task for the Church, the Great Commandment.
