It was a beautiful and colourful ceremony with the Knights of St John at St Philip’s Catholic Church, Okopunoeze, Nnewi, Anambra State as Knights of St John all decked in their regalia held the feast of St John in the parish.
St John international coincided with St Peter’s Pence which equally held in the same church on Sunday.
The mass for the two feasts commenced at 10:00am.
Very Rev Fr Celestine Okonkwo presented a resounding message of trusting Jesus Christ who is able to still the storm of life in a time like the one many Nigerians are passing through at the moment.
Very Rev Fr Okonkwo who took his Bible reading from John 14:7 noted that St Peter’s Pence is a giving that is done all over the world by the Catholics to celebrate and lubricate the structure of the church.
The feasts were celebrated in style with worshippers giving not just to the church but to the widows and other less privileged persons in the society.
The mass which was also celebrated to mark the feast of St. John’s was in commemoration of the saint who was privileged to have his birth and death celebtated like Jesus and Holy Mary, mother of Jesus.
The members of Nnewi Grand Commandery who were dressed in the full regalia were a beauty to behold as they marched into the church ably led by the Grand Commander of the Commandery.

Grand Secretary and other high ranking Knights of the Commandery ensured that the feast was a huge success.
The highlights of the feast of St John was traditional music and dance as well as lavish entertainment of members and guests.
