Don’t embarrass God with your success – Anglican Bishop urges Christians

Anglican bishop of Egbema/Ohaji Diocese, Rt Rev Dr Chidi Oparaojiaku has advised christians to be faithful with their individual and collective responsibilities, reminding them that they would someday give account of their words and deeds.

The Prelate who gave the charge in his sermon during the church service to cap the 4-day Synod of the Diocese on the Niger, Anambra State also challenged parishioners to endeavour to be faithful in their successes.

He advised them to always distinguish between success and faithfulness and not to embarrass God with their successes.

He said, “God is always looking for those who are faithful and not necessarily the successful. Believers should not embarrass God with their successes, but rather to be faithful.

“Formal and informal empty promises will be accounted for. Steward, either positive or negative must certainly be accounted for as well. Don’t allow quality of your christian stewardship decline below your dignity.”

Former Bishop on the Niger, Rt Rev. Ken Sanddy Okeke commended parishioners for successfully hosting the year’s synod, praying that God would bless them exceedingly.

The host Bishop, Rt. Rev Owen Nwokolo, while appreciating the over 10,000 Anglicans and non-Anglicans that attended the Synod, announced that the Ojoto Anglican community, Ọba, Idemili Local Government Area of the state would host next year’s synod.
