Customs Intelligence seized Rs,115M Hashish In Khyber

LANDIKOTAL: Customs intelligence along with Frontier Corp(FC)North foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics from district Khyber to Peshawar and arrested the piddler, officials said on Monday. 

Customs intelligence deputy director Amanat Khan told The News that taking action on the prior information conveyed by Director Genral Faiz Ahmed Chadhrr and Shafqat Ali Khan Niazi, regional director of directorate of customs intelligence peshawar.

He said as the prior information they received, the narcotics smugglers would try to smuggle hashish through hilly pedestrians routes in Zakhakhel area. He said they deployed few separate teams and started vigilance of each pedestrian movement. 

Amanat said Frontier Intelligence Unit(FIU) and Frontier Corp North flaged four suspected persons in Bazaar Zakhakhel Pastoky area . He said all the four persons were on they way from Tirah Maidan and holding backpacks. He said as they asked them to stop they ran away and left their luggages behind.

He said customs and FC personnel chased and arrested one of them. He said three managed to escape somewhere in the dense hilly area.

Amant said they recovered 99 packets containing 115kg of high quality Hashish (chars) from the backpacks. The one arrested was identified Junaid Ahmed, resident of Tirah district Khyber. Custom authorities lodged First Information Report(FIR) and started investigation.He said the value of the seized hashish in open market is  approximately Rs,115 million.
