The Anambra State government has revealed that its fire service is currently ranking number one in the entire South-East and number six in Nigeria.
Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka made this known during an interview with the Media in his office in Awka.
He said Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government, on assumption of office and in its principle of cutting cost, successfully refurbished and put in proper use fire trucks of the agency abandoned for ages.
He said, “Government also approved the procurement of relevant fire firefighting equipment and Personnel Protective Equipment worth over N100 million for the officers of the fire service, which was first of its kind in the history of the state fire service.
“Apart from the renovation of fire service stations across the state; the recent one being that of Agulu, government is developing an emergency fire “Application” which will soon be launched to help residents report fire outbreaks with videos to the state fire service to aid in fighting fire emergencies in the state.”
While hailing the Governor for his massive support to the ministry and all agencies around it, Chukwuemeka commended officers of the state fire service for their gallantry, dedication to duty, doggedness and steadfastness at all times, and prayed God to keep protecting and sustaining them.
He assured government’s continued prioritisation of their welfare in order to appreciate and encourage them to do more for the safety of indigenes and other residents of the state.
