Anambra Re-run Election: INEC warns politicians against electoral fraud, distributes sensitive materials

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) In Anambra state has distributed sensitive materials to Nnewi North and Orumba North Local  Government Areas of the state ahead of Saturday’s February 3, 2024 rerun election in the state.

The distribution exercise which took place on Friday at Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Awka was supervised by State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu.

Addressing reporters, Agwu said the sensitive materials, including result sheets of all types and ballot papers were received and distributed for onward movement to the two council areas while the BVAS machine and other items have been handed over to electoral officers.

She said the Commission had completed fifty percent of its work and was ready for the election, calling on the adhoc staff to be proactive to ensure smooth process.

“There will be no movement in areas where the election will hold from 8.30 am when voting will start and 2.30pm when voting will end. But we’ll ensure that every voter on queue will vote before close of voting,” he said.

The Commissioner warned politicians against any form of electoral malpractices as enough security personnel have been deployed to provide safety at all poling units and other areas the exercise would hold, urging electorate to come out without fear of molestation.

In their separate speeches, Charman of Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the state, Moses Obi and the agent for People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Mr Osondu Mmadu commended INEC for its conduct so far.
