No fewer than two hundred unregistered and unpainted vehicles have been impounded by the Lagos State Government.
The Daily Vendor gathered that the exercise was to curb insecurity across the State.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The exercise was conducted by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA team, led by Giwa.
According to Giwa, in the past 48 hours, the team has impounded more than 200 unregistered and unpainted vehicles.
He stated that the measure was part of a proactive effort to enhance road safety, security and regulate the transportation sector.
He explained that unregistered vehicles posed a significant risk to road safety and security, as they often bypass necessary inspections and regulations, jeopardising their roadworthiness.
“The State Government is taking this matter seriously and will hold such companies accountable for their actions.
“Transport companies operating without the appropriate documentation will face legal consequences,” he said.
