Onitsha South TC chairman begins demolishing of illegal structures

The transition committee chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Orji has reiterated commitments towards aligning with the Professor Chukwuma Soludo Led administration in delivery the Dubai Taiwan of Africa.

He demonstrated this resolve on Monday when he personally supervised the desilting of the drainage systems along Izuchukwu and FG Onyenwe parks at Upper Iweka, Onitsha South Council Area. 

The TC Chairman who spoke during the exercise expressed disappointment towards what he described as negligence and rather nonchalant attitude by residents and parks owners towards their health and environment. He lamented the poor state of the drainage systems at Upper Iweka and promise to restore breath of fresh air to the entire area.

In his reaction, Comrade Nwankwo Benjamin Onyebuchi who resides at Upper Iweka commended the Governor Soludo led administration’s interventions and infrastructural development across the state. 

Adding that such measures had never been witness in the area and advised fellow community members to adhere to proper waste disposal measures to help build a sustainable, clean and healthy living environment.

Lending his voice, Another Resident and chairman, Fegge Youth, Mr. Leonard NwachukwuNnorom also commended Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and the Onitsha South Mayor for gradually but peaceful restoring sanity, law and other in the council area.

He urged the entire Fegge Youth to key into the Soludo’s youth empowerment schemes and programs to build personal skills for personal development and state transformation

A former member representing, Onitsha South constituency one, Hon. Uzoma Eli and Onitsha South stakeholders were also spotted at the scene of the exercise.

They commended the giant stride of Governor Chukwuma Soludo on infrastructural development in the council area and applauded the resilience and dedicated and dogged mayor according to them for stepping out of season to discharge his duties on community development.

The TC Chairman also perform other major demolition work on the perimeter fencing of Life Lager  Beer Ltd which was also said to be encroaching on government land along Port Harcourt Road, by Nimo Street in Onitsha South Council Area.

The Daily Vendor learnt that the Onitsha South local government authority had earlier August 15th 2022 issued a stem warning to the company to maintain status quo in construction of setbacks from the government land which is 15.5mteres against the 5meters that was later established by the Life Lager Beer Company.
