The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the last Anambra Central senatorial election, Hon Dozie Nwankwo (Onyendozi) has rejected the tribunal verdict.
The tribunal had on Friday upheld the election that produced Sen Victor Umeh as duly elected.
A statement made available through the media office of Onyendozi said. “We wishes to express our unapologetic gratitude and appreciation to our dedicated party members, followers, and supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who have stood with Onyendozi throughout the election session and the subsequent court proceedings.
“Once again our gratitude will go to the Campaign Organization, and all the support groups associated with it, for their unwavering commitment to this cause. And to the people of Anambra Central, whose support and trust, Hon. Nwankwo truly values.
“Notwithstanding our heartfelt gratitude, we wish to state that, we are utterly disappointed over the recent verdict delivered by the tribunal for Anambra Central Senatorial election.
“Nevertheless, we shall not relent in seeking redress over the obvious miscarriage of justice and with Onyendozi’s firm believe in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man; It is on that premise that Hon. Nwankwo has instructed his legal team to study the tribunal judgement to know the next line of action. Therefore, we encourage our supporters to remain calm and resolute.
“By stating intention for the rule of law , Onyendozi aims to ensure that justice is served in due cause. We believe that the Appeal Court, which is the highest level for this judicial process, will provide the fair and just outcome that his supporters deserve. Indeed, resolve and determination to pursue legal recourse showcases our deep commitment to the principles of justice and fairness.”
The statement said as a matter of fact that there is still hope in the horizon.
