We’re winning war against gunmen, kidnappers, others in forest – Hunters

The Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) said the war against gunmen, kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminal elements in the forest across the nation was being won by its members.

Commander-General, Amb. Dr. Joshua Osatimehi disclosed this in Onitsha during a working visit to the zonal office of the organisation in Anambra state comprising the five Southeast states.

He said NHFSS is giving a hot chase to the criminal elements who seek refuge in bushes across the country.

Osatimehi who visited some traditional rulers in the state, said his team was in the state to synergise with constituted authorities and to intimate them with their modus operandi.

He explained that hunters have proved their gallantry and bravery in the war against disgruntled elements as well as rescued kidnap victims and recovered stolen items in the forests.

He said, “The Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service has been in existence over the years working in collaboration with constituted authorities across the country to flush out crimes and criminalities in the forest as stipulated in the bill establishing the outfit.

“The bill establishing the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service has received endorsements of the National Assembly and awaiting presidential assent.

“We are in Anambra state to synergise with constituted authorities and to intimate them with our modus operandi.

“Our visit to the zone is also to further educate our officers and men on the need to be disciplined and more professional in their mode of operation.”
