Soludo’s appointment of APGA members to run 21LGAs provocative – APC

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra State has described as provocative and unacceptable continued appointment of members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to run the 21 local governments, without elections.

The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Okelo Madukaife reminded Soludo that the six months of grace to enable his government form democratically elected local governments expired a year ago.

It also demanded full disclosures and confirmations from the governor on the N5bn cash and over 2000 bags of rice, amongst other items released to the state by the Federal Government as petroleum subsidy removal palliatives.

The party further flayed the governor over what he termed noticeable flaws in the recent distribution of coconut and oilpalm nurseries by his government.

The statement reads, “Our dynamic chapter of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC), formally invites the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles  Chukwuma Soludo to hearken to the voice of the critical majority and make full disclosures and confirmations on the N5bn cash ,and over 2000 bags of rice, amongst other items released to the state by the Federal Government as petroleum subsidy removal  palliatives.

“This has become critical, given that the largesse was extended long before it was announced and transparency, in the manner claimed by Gov. Soludo before and after his election as governor demands that an initial word from his table would have gone out before now.

“However late though, it is not too late to confirm the claims of the central government, indicate appropriation proposals to Anambra State House of Assembly (ANHA) and distribution plans of non-cash  items in the state.

“This is coming against the background of noticeable flaws in the recent distribution of coconut and oilpalm nurseries by the state government, which in the main became tools of political patronage and has badly affected the objective of the program.

“We expect a complete departure from this ignoble credential to a system that cares for its elements across board.

“We expect that 96 hours working week, making up the rest of this week should be enough for the state government to accomplish these simple milestones, and so demand.

“We also seize this opportunity to remind Gov. Soludo, still along the line of distribution of goods and services that the six months of grace to enable his government form democratically elected local governments expired a year ago and the continued appointment of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) members  to run the 21 local governments, without elections for Anambra State voters to choose   has become provocative and unacceptable.

“We warn the decampee Speaker, of ANHA, Rt.Hon. Somtoo Udeze, to adjust himself and ANHA to the constitution of Nigeria and laws of Anambra State and stop any further caricature of approving Caretaker appointments for the LGs, which may soon snowball into a major crisis if unchecked.”
