The 2023 edition of Nnewi annual yam festival popularly known as Afiaolu has commenced on a spiritual note.
The highly revered Nnewi monarch, HRH, Igwe(Dr) KON Orizu 111, in company of some eminent personalities in the town has gone to the church to pray for an hitch free celebrations.
A fiery prophet, Ven Dr Awuzie of Cathedral Church of St Mary Nnewi commended Igwe Nnewi for always putting God first in all his endeavors.
He said it is not surprising that the commercial town of Nnewi is flourishing like a tree planted by the river side under his leadership.
Ven Awuzie enjoined other persons in different positions of authority to borrow a leaf from HRH, Igwe(Dr) KON Orizu 111, whose humility according to him is second to none.
He later showered prayers of blessing on the Royal Father and his entourage.
Igwe Orizu was accompanied by the President General (PG) of Nnewi, Chief Maduka Atuenyi, Chief Apostle Chukwunonye Onyejuluwa.

The Nnewi new yam festival (Afiaolu) will officially begin on Wednesday and climaxed on Saturday.
