Why I’m providing free Airtel Wi Fi to 44 villages in my constituency – Anambra Lawmaker

Member representing Awka South 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Henry Mbachu has reassured his preparedness to deliver quality representation to his constituency.

He said he was not interested in a second term, nor was he saving money for that purpose, stressing that funds accruable to him would be adequately channelled to better the lot of his people.

Mbachu spoke in Awka while addressing heads of villages and communities that make up his constituency during the flag off of 80 Free Wi-Fi in all village squares and secondary schools in Awka and Okpuno in partnership with Airtel Nigeria.

He said the package targeted primarily at the youths in the area was meant to engage them meaningfully at the same time distract them from prevailing social vices bedeviling the society.

He appreciated the heads of the communities for supporting him to victory at the polls, urging them to extend the same to the project to ensure its success.

He said, “Nigeria no doubt is in dissary which has not only hightened migration of citizens, but increased levels of crimes and criminality. But some of us chose not to travel out but to stay back and see the changes we can offer.

“All of us are to blame for the crimes in our communities which was contributed by infiltration of foreigners. We must have to engage our youths beyond operating Keke and other menial jobs.

“That’s why we ventured into politics and thank God we won. Though we’re still in court, but we can’t afford to fold our arms and wait for the judgement. We must hit the ground running.

“I assure you of making good my campaign promises of quality representation. I’m going to work and that has to do primary with data. Unfortunately, that’s of our major problems in Nigeria. 

“We will go village by village to engage the youths in focused discussions. We’ll teach them e-commerce so they can be distracted from violence and be attracted to the internet facilities.

“Out of the 80 gadgets, 6 will be installed at UNIZIK, while the rest will go to Paul University, 10 Secondary Schools for teacher’s free internet research work and the 44 village squares in the constituency.”

On his part, Airtel representative, Jerry Ani

announced a 5-G plant launch to boost network services across the state, urging the youths to take advantage of the opportunity for increased internet businesses.

Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo said the lawmaker’s gesture was in line with Soludo’s agenda of making Anambra digitalized state in Nigeria.

Chairman of Umunamoke village Awka, Anagor Innocent, who spoke on behalf of other village heads, appreciated the lawmaker for his benevolence, urging him to maintain his relationship with the grassroots ahead future elections. 

“You started with a good plan and the good plan will lead you to your reelection bid in the next poll,” he assured.
