Group awards Anambra commissioner for prompt intervention to sexual, gender based violence cases

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo has received an award of recognition for her numerous interventions on issues concerning women, children and young girls in the state.

The award was given to the Commissioner by Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) in collaboration with The Global Fund during the Launch of start ups for economic empowerment of 300 adolescent girls and Women in the state. 

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Obinabo appreciated the organizers of the economic empowerment for finding her worthy of the award and assured she would continue to do her best in ensuring rights of women and children were not trampled upon. 

She charged everyone, especially mothers to be agents of change in order to instill positive behaviors in their children and the society at large. 

The event which had lined up of speakers was targeted at empowering adolescent girls and young women with vocational skills and seed grants of starts ups and businesses they trained on.

Climax of the occasion was the official launch of start up for economic empowerment of 300 adolescent girls and Women in Anambra state and a tour to the stand of some samples of craft by trainees of various vacational skills.
