Seadogs declares war against indiscriminate refuse dump in Onitsha

 National Association of Seadogs, Onitsha Chapter has raised the alarm over indiscriminate dumping of refuses in undesignated locations in Onitsha, Anambra State.

President, Engr Emeka Uwaechia stated this during a radio talk show themed, “Transforming Onitsha-Effective waste disposal Mechanism, a tool for Societal development,” targeted at enlightening residents on the need for proper waste disposal method with resultant benefits.

He identified indiscriminate dropping of refuses in undesignated spots in the commercial city and its environs as major vice militating against attainment of a clean society.

He revealed that the association had earlier embarked on evacuation of refuses, including packing refuses that litter around some waste bins within the metropolis into disposable nylon bags neatly arranged for onward disposal by refuse trucks.

He said plans were on to sustain the project which would be presented to the local government council Chairman and Ministry of Environment for consideration and possible implementations.

“Onitsha residents were marvelled by the act of commitment by Seadogs to serve the society. We also have plans to sustain the project as a communique derived from feedback from the mass during the call-in program.

“This will be presented to the Local Government Council Chairman and State Ministry of Environment for consideration and possible implementation.
