Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET) has appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to ensure rehabilitation and compensation of residents displaced as a result of the proposed construction of flyover around the busy Ekwulobia business district in the State.
Anambra government has said that the construction of Ekwulobia flyover had been awarded and would soon commence.
In a statement signed by Mr Paul Nwosu, Commissioner for Information, it said people whose properties and shops were on the right of way of the flyover or encroached into the road corridor should vacate.
ACSONET Lead, Prince Chris Azor, while reacting to the appeal by Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) over the plight of their members’ properties that would be affected by the proposed demolition, enjoined the Governor to be mindful of citizens’ rights and the role of government in protecting lives and property.
