Why we chose Anambra lawmaker for ‘person of peace’ award – IPAN

Igbos for Progressive and United Nationhood (IPAN) has presented ‘person of peace’ award to Member representing Awka North constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. John Nwokoye (Onowu Achalla).

Making the presentation at the lawmaker’s country home in Achalla in Awka North Local Government Area of the state, IPAN’s National President, Comrade Lawrence Onuzulike hailed the awardee for his numerous achievements in the house, especially his various empowerment programmes.

He said the choice of the lawmaker for the award was informed by his peaceful disposition, especially fighting for peace and the rights of Igbo people across the country.

“We decided to single you out for this special award due to your numerous achievements in the house, especially your various empowerment programs. 

“We’re convinced that the award will spur you to greater and unprecedented achievements even outside the shores of the House of Assembly,” he added.

Receiving the prestigious award, Hon Nwokoye thanked IPAN for deeming it fit to honour his works during his time at the State House of Assembly.

He said: “I thank IPAN for recognising my works while in the House of Assembly and fighting for peace and the rights of Igbo people in Nigeria, the same course that has made IPAN a very important organization.”

While calling on Nigerians to make peace their watchword, the politician also charged Ndigbo all over the world to remain diligent, hardworking and law abiding in their various locations.

The award presentation was witnessed by the Uthoko Na Eze VI of Achalla Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Igwe Ositadimma Sunny Nwokedi and his cabinet members.
