Four persons, including a couple have been arrested over alleged involvement in recent dastardly attack by gunmen on a convoy of the United States’ embassy officials in Ogbaru, Anambra State.
The suspects were reportedly arrested during a raid of several criminal camps in the area by the Security operatives who were on a joint-task-force operation led by the Commander of Naval base, Onitsha.
A source who pleaded anonymous as he was not authorized to speak to the press, said the Navy Commander was accompanied in the operation by the Commissioner of Police in the State, the Commandant of NSCDC and Commander of NDLEA.
The source said, “Four notorious leaders/commanders of the Biafra agitators in Ogbaru LGA were arrested during the raid.
“Those arrested during the raid included husband and wife and two others (names withheld),
“Three of the arrested persons were reportedly part of the attack on US convoy in ogbaru three weeks ago.
“Those arrested were among those terrorizing various communities in the area.
“The communities expressed satisfaction at the efforts of the security operatives whose efforts have immensely contributed to the security of life and property in the area,” the source privy to the JTF operations further disclosed.
Recall that no fewer than seven lives were lost in the gruesome attack by gunmen on a convoy of the United States’ embassy officials in the area early in the month.
