…as CPS describes the journalists as his brothers and professional colleagues
Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has reassured journalists in the state of the Governor’s continued support in the discharge of their constitutional functions as the fourth estate of the realm.
Aburime who gave the assurance during the monthly meeting of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Anambra Chapter, held in Awka, said Soludo accords due respect and recognition to the media.
He expressed the hope that every assistance due to them would be looked into and subsequently convey to Mr Governor
The CPS described the journalists as his brothers and professional colleagues whom he knows and connects with on a personal level, stressing that what affects them also affects him.
He enjoined them to continue to support Governor Soludo’s administration through objective and balanced reportage of the Governor’s developmental strides in the state.
He also enjoined them to imbibe the spirit of developmental journalism, which should serve as the foundation on how they write and present their news report for the greater good of the society.
He said, “We have to be fair, honest and objective in our reportage and also balance how we report our stories.
“We should also aviod sensational and deceptive headlines that does no one no good.”
Aburime bemoaned the lack of editorial control, objectivity, and truth in most stories, which, he says can compromise a reporter’s integrity.
Expressing appreciation to the Correspondents’ Chapel members for their support to the government, the Press Secretary encouraged them not to relent on their efforts in publicising the enormous work Governor Soludo is doing in Anambra State
On his part, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Chief Ilozue Chuks, thanked the Press Secretary for his time and understanding of their concerns.
He said his members were looking forward to meeting with Governor Soludo soonest.
