JAMB: Extort prospective candidates, risk prosecution – NSCDC warns CBT operators

…as JAMB assures that all necessary provisions have been made to ensure that 2023 examination is conducted in serene environment

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has warned accredited Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Computer Based Test operators against overcharging prospective candidates above Government stipulated rate for the extrance forms

The State Commandant of the Corps, Chikere Isidore who gave the warning while hosting JAMB State Coordinator in Awka, said the command would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any service provider or group of persons who dare to extort innocent citizens in the course of registration or deregistered CBT centers still  registering candidates. 

He said, “Ahead of the commencement of 2022 UTME registration, the command will deploy plain-clothes personnel to various registration centres to ensure prospective candidates are not shortchanged. 

“Be assured that whoever is caught selling the form above government stipulated rate  will definitely face the full wrath of the law.”

Acknowledging the synergy between NSCDC and JAMB, Isidore listed the positive results such collaboration has yielded to include reduction in examination malpractice, closure of non accredited registration centres and apprehending of syndicates exploiting prospective candidates during registration. 

Earlier, JAMB State Coordinator, Mrs Karen Gar appreciated the Corps for providing adequate security and ensuring discipline during the conduct of past UTME hoping that same collaboration be sustained this year. 

She  assured that all necessary provisions have been made to ensure that 2023 examination is conducted in serene environment across the State.
