2023:  Wazirin Bauchi  Dethroned for disloyalty to governor

I am not perturbed – Dethroned Wazirin

As political gladiators continue their maneuver towards 2023, an octogenarian and one of the founder fathers of Bauchi  State

Alhaji Bello Mohammad Kirfi, has been dethroned from office and stripped of his title as Wazirin Bauchi.

The state Governor His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed approved his dethronement via a letter from the  Ministry of Local Government Affairs with  reference No: MLG/LG/S/72/T dated 30th December 2022,  signed by Alhaji Shehu Mudi Muhammad, the Council Secretary.

The content of the said letter indicated  that it is due to “your disloyalty and disrespect to the Executive Governor of the State and the Government.”

Meanwhile ,Alhaji Muhammad Bello Kirfi , the dethroned  Wazirin Bauchi,  a senior Councilor in the Emirate  however said he is not perturbed by the actions of the state governor.

The Daily Vendor gathered that the action of the governor was due to the political storm that is hitting the state as a result of Retrd Air Marshall Sadique  Abubakar ambition.

Impeccable sources informed The Daily Vendor that the octogenarian had in many open fora told the governor that his style of leadership was different from what he promised the state during his campaign in 2019.

According to our sources, the governor has been embarking on ‘ white elephant projects at the detriment of the poor masses ” And this has not gone down well with some senior citizens of the state.

The Daily Vendor also learnt that the deposed Wazirin problem actually started when the governor started having problem with the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

“Alhaji Kirfi told the governor that you do not fight those people that worked for you on your way to becoming governor”

The octogenarian has said so in many open fora also and even to the hearing of the governor in so many occasions “and this has not gone down well with his excellency” said our sources.

However, the straw that break the Carmels back was  his stance to distance himself from the second term  bid of the governor saying that he would not support anyone but rather remain neutral. But the governor sees it as he is supporting Sadique Abubakar.

This is the second time that Kirfi, former minister of Special Duties in the Presidency during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s first tenure, is being penalised  in the Emirate due to the influence of politicians.

The first was during the tenure of the former Governor Mohammad Abubakar when he was suspended but was subsequently restored by the incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed, the Kauran Bauchi.

Kirfi, a major player in the political circle of Bauchi State, clocked 90 years last week.

A revered elder statesman, Octogenarian was reportedly instrumental in dislodging immediate past Governor Mohammed Abubakar from Government House, Bauchi from getting a second tenure as he lost the 2019 governorship election to the incumbent governor.

He allied with former Speaker Yakubu Dogara, incumbent Governor Bala Mohammed and some political heavyweights to work against his second-term tenure bid.

An insider who pleaded anonymity said Kirfi, an ally of Abubakar Atiku, the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP allegedly had a clandestine meeting with some stakeholders of the party from the 20 local governments of the state on the forthcoming general election.

Kirfi was alleged to have told those at the meeting to vote for Atiku for President and the All Progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, retired for governor.

His daughter is the current Commissioner for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hajiya Sa’adatu Kirfi.
