…says Kalvin Phillips was also ‘unable to train’ due to his weight
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has slammed Kalvin Phillips, saying the England star cannot play for his team for returning from the 2022 World Cup’ overweight.
Guardiola said that the Englishman was also ‘unable to train’ due to his weight.
Phillips was surprisingly missing from Guardiola’s side that beat Liverpool 3-2 in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.
Philips played just 40 minutes for the Three Lions at the World Cup, as they were dumped out at the quarter-final stage to France.
Guardiola said: “He is not injured, he arrived overweight.
“I don’t know why he is overweight. He didn’t arrive in the conditions to take part in training sessions and to play. That’s why he cannot play.”
