2023: Ndigbo backing out of PDP dangerous – Campaign DG

The Anambra state Director General, Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC), Prof Obiora Okonkwo has urged Ndigbo to support the Presidential ambition of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Vice President, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ahead of their visit to the state tomorrow.

Speaking at a press conference in Awka yesterday, Okonkwo who is the Chairman, United Nigeria Airlines, said it was dangerous for Ndigbo to back out from PDP in view of the huge price they’ve paid.

He announced that PDP will flag-off the Presidential campaign in the Southeast in Awka, Anambra state capital tomorrow, with the theme, “Winning As Always”.

He said, “They will arrive 10.00am on Thursday, pay courtesy call to Governor Soludo at the governors’ lodge, where they will meet and interact with the traditional rulers.

“Other scheduled programs include inauguration of PDP office, interactive sessions with different groups including women, youths etc and a reception for the presidential candidate and his entourage”.

He urged for continued support to the presidential candidate and other candidates vying for various positions both in the state and national assembly.

Continuing, Okonkwo noted, “Ninety five percent of Ndigbo at the National Assembly are there in PDP platform, we have made much investment in PDP.

“It is dangerous for Ndigbo to back out from PDP because we have paid our price so much. That’s why we urge people in Anambra state to support Atiku and other PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections”.

On the crisis ro king the PDP, the state Chairman of the Presidential Council, Senator Ndii Obi, said efforts are on-going to reconcile with the G 5 aggrieved members and others, adding “It is common to have misunderstanding among party members. A team is already constituted to resolve the issues, it’s on-going, but not for public discuss. The G 5 are even ready for reconciliation.

“This is not something we want to make public, but let me tell you that the G5 Governors are also willing for peace, Wike (Rivers State governor) has said so. We have a team that is working on that, and for now, we are not willing to make the outcome public, but we are working.

“In all their (G5 Governors’) demands, they have never said they have any problem with Atiku personally. It is not a matter that can not be resolved. They have been campaigning for PDP in their states, all hope is not lost”, he said.
