‘The guards took the minors to an abandoned structure on Obodoukwu road’

Two guards have been arrested over alleged attempt to defile a 12-year-old girl at Nkutaku area of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The victim, from Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State, is said to be a resident of Obodoukwu Road near Atani road.

It was gathered that the yet to be identified suspects were assisting the police with useful information at the Okpoko Police Division.

A police source at the Division told our correspondent that the victim and her male friend were walking along the street going to lock-up the shop, when the guards, fully armed with machetes and pump action guns accosted them, intimidating and subjecting them to instant fear.

“After taking the minors to an abandoned structure on Obodoukwu road, the guards told the little boy to go home and bring N1,000 to bail themselves for wandering at that time of the night.

“They cunningly asked the little boy to go home to bring the money so they would be left alone with the helpless girl to fulfill their mission.

“Luck however ran out on them when the boy returned to their residence and narrated how they were hurriedly taken away by the vigilantes, which prompted the girl’s father, a trader, identified as Mr Lee Bibamde to immediately call for a rescue team in search of the missing girl.

“Bibamde, with the assistance of another vigilante operative and some elders were taken to the scene where they met the victim fully naked,” the source said.

On his part, the victim’s father said, “They had succeeded in removing both her panties and tight. In fact, she was fully naked. From their confession, the other operative was somewhere keeping watch for his colleague so he could take his own turn of my daughter.”

“The commander of the vigilante outfit did a wonderful job by arresting the suspects and subsequently handing them over to the police for prompt action.

“The matter is being investigated and may be charged to court on Thursday this week,” another senior police officer said.

Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were in police custody and would be charged after investigations.
