Don’t allow retired politicians plunge you into slavery – Amaechi tells Nigerian youths

First republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi has advised Nigerian youths to be zealous and determined to take back their country to ensure they were not plunged into slavery by old generation of leaders.

The elderstateman spoke when youth group under the aegis of Southern and Middle Belt Youth Coalition paid him consultative visit in his Ukpor country home, Anambra State.

He recalled how he together with his colleagues fought the colonial masters to a standstill based on justice and equity for all Nigerians.

He stressed that what is paramount to Nigerians at the moment is an unselfish leadership.

He said, “The youths will have to push aside every differences and de-emphasise party politics by looking at competence and capacity of individuals. 

“The youths should take back their country or else the old generation of leaders will put them into slavery. The youths must come to a level where they are ready to die to achieve the dream country they want.”

Earlier, leader of the group, Prince Okenwa Okpala said the visit was to seek advice from the foremost nationalist on how the youths can righfully take over the governance of the country.

He lamented that the country is currently in a bad shape and in need of leadership with a sense of direction.

He pointed out that their meeting would afford them the opportunity to learn from the elderstateman how fairness and equity can be achieved in the governance structure of Nigeria.

He lamented that the two major political parties in the country, against all expectations, refused to follow equity and fairness in selecting their presidential flagbearers.

Okpala however, noted that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, is enjoying an unprecedented support from all Nigerians, especially the youths, because of the believe that he has the capacity to turn things around in the country.

He said, “The marginalization of certain geopolitical zones in the country has led to the collapse of almost everything in Nigeria. Most Nigerian youths deep in their hearts know that the country needs change. 

“We cannot be preaching unity while some sections are being marginalised. The slow pace of development in Nigeria is discouraging compared to other countries which are at par with us.

“The youths are all pained and that is why we are seeking the advice of the elder statesmen across the country on how the youths can play their role effectively in repositioning the country back to where it ought to be.”
