560 NYSC members sworn-in in Ebonyi

560 new corps members were on Monday sworn into the National Youth Service Scheme in Ebonyi stat amidst strict adherence to covid-19 protocol.

The 2020 Batch B Stream 1A corps members consist of 277 males and 283 females cutting across the six geo-political zones of the country.

The induction of the corps members was done in compliance to the Covid-19 protocols as the course members were spaced and also wore facemasks.

The event took place at the Old MacGregor College Permanent Orientation camp of the Corps in Afikpo North local government area.

In an address, the state Coordinator of the scheme, Mercy Bambi said the corps management have provided hand washing facilities and hand sanitizers at strategic locations in the camp, maintenance of two metre distancing from each other in the arrangement of accommodation and seating arrangement in the hall.

She urged the Corps members to take every aspect of the three weeks orientation course serious and to observe all Covid-19 safety protocols.

Mrs Bamai said all the corps members and camo officials were administered covid-19 tests and all the results came out negative.

The state governor, David Umahi said the Corps members have an important role to play in Nation building.

“Your orientation course is designed to equip you adequately for the task of nation building especially now our nation is facing lots of challenges from Covid-19 epidemic to EndSars peaceful protests which later snowballed into looting, killing, arson and a whole lot which our dear Nation has not experienced in a long while”

Represented by his Special Assistant on Youths and Sports, Frank Onwe, the governor urged the youths to shun violence and embrace peace and dialogue at all times.

“I want to remind you that the youth of any country is a great asset, you are indeed the future of this country and you represent it at every level, you are the building block of this country. So we cannot make do without the youths of this nation”.

The Chief Judge of the Ebonyi state, Justice A. A. Nwigwe represented by Justice Benson Ogbu administered the oat of allegiance on the corps members.
