Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has tasked youths in Nigeria and especially those in the state to be patriotic and commit themselves to the programmes of that promotes good governance, understanding and peaceful coexistence
He gave the admonishion while hosting the newly elected National Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Comrade Shuaibu Sani, who was on a thank-you visit at the Government House, on Tuesday.
The Governor said his administration’s focus in areas such as industrialization, education, health, tourism, among others, is centred around the youths, stressing that government will only succeed if the youths key into these initiatives with patriotism and every sense of seriousness.
This is just as Engineer Sule welcomed the idea of the YAN hosting its national inauguration ceremony in Nasarawa State, scheduled to hold on August 19, describing it as a positive direction since his administration is doing everything to promote the youth.
While congratulating Comrade Sani on his emergence as the YAN National Speaker, the Governor said he was not surprised on his victory considering Comrade Sani’s antecedents, especially in the affairs of youths.
“I wish to congratulate you on behalf of the government and people of Nasarawa State. You have made us proud by working so hard to be elected.
“You have become a true ambassador of the state and now will become an ambassador of Nigeria,” the Governor stated.
Engineer Sule equally congratulated the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, for agreeing to host the official inauguration of its newly elected national officials in Nasarawa State.
The Governor disclosed that his administration is committed to renovating the Abacha Youth Centre, towards bringing the centre back to life, as according to him, it will promote the image of the state, especially that the YAN National Speaker is from the state.
Earlier in his remarks, newly elected National Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Comrade Shuaibu Sani, said he was at the Government House to show appreciation and thank the Governor for his support throughout the campaign period.
Comrade Sani explained that he was at the Government House to seek the blessings of the Governor just as he did prior to the election.
“We have decided to take you as a role model because of your leadership style.
“We feel if we have a leader like you in the country, that is ready to listen to the yearning and aspirations of Nigerian youths, I believe the cry of Nigerian youths will be a thing of the past,” Comrade Sani said.
The newly elected YAN National Speaker, disclosed that the assembly has accepted to host its inauguration of the newly elected national officials in Nasarawa State, to which end he sought the support of the state government towards hosting the event.
Comrade Sani was accompanied on the visit by the Nasarawa State YAN Speaker, Comrade Jaafar Loko, among other officials.
