Two persons on Thursday escaped death by a whisker as they were involved in a serious road accident that occurred in the early hour of Thursday at about 4.00am.
The Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Sector of FRSC, Florence N.Edor made this known in a press release.
She said that two vehicles, an unidentified driver of a Toyota Sienna with registration number AGL 21 YA and another unidentified driver of Toyota Sienna with registration number RSH 22 XA were involved in the crash.
Edor said that eyewitness report indicated that the accident was caused by inadequate warning signs by the construction company handling the ongoing road rehabilitation along Awka Enugu express way.
She said that two vehicles belonging to Transport company of Anambra State (TRACAS) rammed into the barricade on the tail end of the Awka-Enugu flyover by Amawbia.
Two male adults according to the Public Education Officer were involved in the crash, she said that one of the male adults sustained injury and was rushed to Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching hospital Awka for treatment by a good Samaritan before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Anambra State Sector Command.
She said that no death was recorded in the accident.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi(CC) has warned the Construction Companies to always inform FRSC of any intending construction along major highways, adding that they should ensure that adequate road signs are put to warn motorists about the ongoing construction to avoid any traffic crash.
The Sector Commander said that any erring construction company will be fined for refusal to put adequate warning signs, or might even be charge to court.
