160 Nigerian evacuees from United States land in Abuja

The Ethiopian Airlines aircraft conveying about 170 Nigerian evacuees from the United States has landed safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

THE DAILY VENDOR gathered that the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 aircraft touched down in Abuja at about 12:10pm on Sunday, May 10.

THE DAILY VENDOR reported earlier that Nigerians stranded in the United States due to the COVID 19 pandemic are on their way home.

The 160 Nigerians, including eight infants, made the first batch of evacuees from the US..

The evacuees after going through port health and immigration protocols are expected to proceed immediately on a14 day quarantine in Abuja before leaving for their respective destinations in the country.

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Nigeria, Geoffrey Onyeama while confirming their arrival said they will be tested for COVID 19, and re-tested at the end of the quarantine period.

“Once they fulfill all airport protocols – port health, immigration etc, they will all be transported to the designated quarantine centres for the mandatory 14 day period .They will be tested for Covid-19 and re-tested at the end of the quarantine period,” The Minister tweeted.
