104 persons had contact with Borno COVID19 Index case

As Yobe sets Up Mobile Courts

The Borno task force on COVID19 says at least 104 persons had contact with the index case in the state.

And neighbouring Yobe State sets up Mobile courts at all the state borders to try offenders who violate the state border closure order.

Borno recorded its first case of the disease at the weekend but the patient, a retired nurse, died before the result of the COVID-19 test came out.

Speaking at the inaugural media briefing of the task force, Umar Kadafur, the deputy governor, said 48 persons have been tested and of this figure, 44 persons tested negative for coronavirus while two persons tested positive.

However with the latest report released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday Borno has 9 positive cases now while the neighbouring Yobe is yet to record any.

The committee for the prevention and control of the COVID19 in Yobe State led by the Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana has set up Mobile courts to try violators of the state border closure directives.

The courts have been empowered to try both drivers and passengers while directing that articulated vehicles on essential duties cannot carry more than three people including the driver.
